Was wondering, this game looks awesome great graphics i like how the new game play sounds, im definitly buying this one, but will somone with dial up be able to play this game smoothly or is it recommended to only play with dsl,cable,T1. . .

If it were me i'd try to get dsl/cable, if in the u.s. i'd try to get the 384k-1.5mbit. It just runs so much better than on a modem.

k thx, my DSL modem got fried a few months ago, so ill be playing with dial-up for awhile

agreed, if you cant spare the money tho the does run fine on a 56k. just not as great as dsl/cable.

It's true that you can play on a 56k modem just fine, but it does make the downloads of content take quite a long time. It was about four hours from when I downloaded the client to when I was shown the login screen.

I've played on dial up for one of the BWE, and it ran fine, longer loading times, but besides that it was fine. I've heard that the initial first run downloads can be brutal, but in the release that'll be fixed.

Im on AOL dial-up, and I can buy BellSouth DSL for the same price a month... Which I will be doing soon, but the instalation is close to 150$ AFTER rebates.

my install (self install) was free except for about 15 shipping costs for the kit

20 minute install tops

get 18 megabytes/minute with a 3.0 MBit cap

I was on dial-up when I first went online years ago, and resisted upgrading to the more expensive cable ISP for quite some time. I'm just so cheap, you see. But at the urging of a good friend of mine, I made the switch a few years ago, and have loved it ever since. With the number of users in my house (4), and the amount of school, work, shopping, emailing, and gaming use that goes on here, it's almost a necessity. And it spoils you. There are just too many compromises to be made with dial-up ISP's, especially if you're a gamer or are online a lot. But you can look at it this way...if you're subscribed to EQ, WoW, or any of the other pay-as-you-play games, cancel them, then go DSL or cable with what you've saved. Guild Wars will be all you need from now on, right? Lol!

I too went from dial-up to DSL recenty (about 4 months on DSL) I can not belive I lived with dial up for so long. Now I am completely spoiled. If a page takes more than 5 sec to load I start over. And music downloads are done before the demo song is done playing. If you can I would upgrade. Most companys will throw in either free equipment or free install. I went with free install as I live in an older house and suck at that sort of thing.
